Chapter 10
System Troubleshooting
10.1 Introduction
This chapter contains information for troubleshooting the S6 system. With
the information provided in this chapter, the service personnel should be

faulty equipment.
10.2 Preparation
1. The user and service manuals for the S6 system should be thoroughly
read before troubleshooting the equipment. All the warnings and
cautions should be thoroughly read and properly understood.
2. Determine the cause of the system malfunction: Is it originated from
the user’s misuse or from hardware/software failures?
3. Consider possible causes of the problems carefully: Has the system
been operating continuously for too long? Any external factors (e.g.
equipment drawing high power) that interfere with the normal oper-

4. Check these devices/places first: external power supply socket, (ex-
tension) power cord, power supply outlet and fuse.
5. If an unusual problem is encountered, try to identify the cause by
reproducing the problem.
6. With the testing software (chapter 8) provided and the information
on the common problems introduced in the following sections, ex-

problem.
7. Consider the service cost. Do not replace a component if you are
