5.2 Removing the Basket from the Tank
WARNING — Burn hazard
l Since temperatures within the equipment can reach +60 °C (+140 °F) during
and after operation, take care when opening the lid at the end of a wash cycle.
l Allow sufficient time for items to cool before handling, cleaning, or commencing
maintenance procedures.
l When removing the basket from a full tank of hot water, make sure that gloves
are suitably rated for thermal protection. Alternatively, wait until the water
temperature is below a safe limit for the PPE used.
The basket should always be removed from tank for loading of instruments.
1. Open the lid of the sonic irrigator fully.
2. Using both hands, pull the basket handles upwards. Handles turn about pivots and
push basket locking assemblies away, releasing the basket.
3. Remove the basket from the tank by lifting up using the basket handles. Keep the
basket level until completely free from the tank.
4. If the basket contains instruments from a previous wash cycle, when the basket is
above the tank, tilt the basket to allow fluids to drain back into the tank. Then move
the basket to a draining area away from the sonic irrigator to allow any residual fluid
to drain out.
