7.1 Rewash Program Setting
Within a wash program, if the rewash parameter is set above zero, the rewash feature is
enabled. When the rewash feature is enabled, the tank fluids do not drain at the end of the
first wash cycle. The operator then has the option to reuse the tank fluids for the next wash
cycle.
If the sonic irrigator has editable (open) wash programs, the rewash parameter can be set
and adjusted through the supervisor menu. Some configurations of the sonic irrigator may
ship with one or more factory- set rewash programs. The equipment owner can use the
supervisor menu to view program settings and see what rewash options are available. See
Viewing and Editing Wash Programs
on page79
The rewash feature is intended for heavily soiled instruments only. On completion of a
rewash cycle, it is strongly recommended that instruments are further processed in a
standard wash cycle to rinse off any remaining soil and chemicals.
WARNING
If setting up a rewash program for use with instruments contaminated with blood, it is
recommended that the wash temperature is set no higher than +35 ºC (+95ºF). High-
temperature washes without a pre-wash cycle can leave clotted blood on instruments
and can promote formation of prions, leading to instrument contamination.
7.2 The Rewash Counter
When using the rewash option, the display will show a number after the washing stage
name to indicate how many times the same tank fluids have been used.
