N Take pinions (2, 10) with ball bearings out of the lower
half of the gear housing (1).
N If necessary, remove ball bearings from drive pinions,
@ 4.9.
4.8 Installing the Drive Pinions
N If necessary, install ball bearings on drive pinions, @
4.10.
N Hold the drive pinions (2, 10) so that the smaller
pinion (10) is positioned above the narrower seat
(arrow) in the lower half of the gear housing (1).
N Fit drive pinions (2, 10) together so that their teeth
mesh and hold them in that position.
N Place both drive pinions (2, 10) in their seats in the
lower half of the gear housing (1) at the same time.
N Apply about 5 g gear grease between the drive
pinions (2, 10).
N Fill sealing grooves in upper half of the gear housing
(7) with a bead of sealant that is
2 - 3 mm high (a).
N Fit upper half of gear housing (7) in position.
N Insert the screws (9) and tighten them down in a
crosswise pattern.
N Fit the screws (8).
N Fit the screws (11).
N Install the drive tube, @ 4.6.
N Install angle drive gear, @ 4.4.
4.9 Removing Ball Bearings from Drive Pinions
N Preparations, @ 3.1.
N Remove angle drive gear, @ 4.3.
N Remove the drive tube, @ 4.5.
N Remove the drive pinions, @ 4.7.
N Use puller 5910 890 8100 to pull the ball bearings (3,
4) off the pinions (2, 10).
4.10 Installing Ball Bearings on Drive Pinions
N Note installed positions of ball bearings:
Ball bearings with steel seal at both sides (3) first,
then ball bearings with nylon seal at both sides (4).
N Use press sleeve 1113 893 4600 to press the ball
bearings (3, 4) onto drive pinions (2, 10) as far as
stop.
N Install the drive pinions, @ 4.8.
N Install the drive tube, @ 4.6.
N Install angle drive gear, @ 4.4.
