11.Inspect differential:
A. Inspect pinion shaft for excessive wear or dam-
age. If O.D. is less than 0.707 in. (17.95 mm), re-
place the pinion shaft.
B. Measure thickness of pinion liners. If thickness is
less than 0.035 in. (0.9 mm), replace the pinion lin-
ers.
C. Measure thickness of side gear liners. If thick-
ness is less than 0.043 in. (1.1 mm), replace the side
gear liners.
D. Inspect the gear contact condition between spiral
bevel pinion and ring gear.
E. Inspect differential case for wear in side gears
and pinion shaft mating area. Replace the case if ma-
chined surfaces are scored or if the pinion shaft fits
loosely in the bore.
