This section will describe the necessary adjustments for the CT 9800 Data Processing system. The Display
subsystem (with Alpha-Numeric), Mag Tape, Disk Drive, and S/140 Computer each have their own individual
subsystem manuals that describe most of the necessary adjustments in detail. Those adjustment procedures will
not be repeated here, other than to give a referral to the location of each procedure. If any additional information
is necessary to perform those adjustments, it will be given here (for example, procedures written by Data General
may require service tools or parts that a service person does not commonly have). Any adjustments which are
not described elsewhere will be given here.
The most common references will be to the 9800 Display Manual (for the AlphaNumeric system), the S/140
Computer Manual Vols. 1 and 2, the 6026 Mag Tape Manual, and Data General Documentation #11, 12, & 13
(the Disk Drive Manuals). GE part numbers for service tools may be found in the CT 9800 System Manual,
Direction 18003 (Renewal Parts). Information on diagnostic and exercisor programs from the DTOS tape may be
found in the DTOS Manuals. Material on the STCT Array Processor may be found in the sections relating to the
RDCP (Reconstruction & Data Collection Processor), since the STCT is an integral part of the RDCP subsystem.
3-1 Alpha-numeric System Adjustments
Refer to the 9800 Display Subsystem Manual (Direction 18007), Chapter 6, Section 3 for all alpha-numeric
adjustments.
3-2 S/140 Computer Adjustments
At this time, there are no S/140 Computer adjustments.
3-3 Mag Tape Adjustments
This section covers the procedures necessary to adjust the 6026 Mag Tape Drive. Most of the adjustments are
described in detail by Data General in their Maintenance Manual, so a cross-reference will be given below. Since
many of the adjustments require the use of command strings, procedure A below describes how to load the
Command String Interpreter, and each procedure using it will have a suggested use of the command strings.
A. Loading the Command String Interpreter
This procedure describes how to load the Command String Interpreter from the DTOS program 6026 RELI.
Suggested uses of the command string are given with each adjustment as needed. A summary of
commands, etc., is given in Appendix C of DG’s 6026 Maintenance Manual in the 6026 Mag Tape Manual,
Part 4. For detailed operating instructions of the 6026 RELI program, refer to the DTOS Manual, Volume #1
Part 4.
1. Mount and load the DTOS tape. If necessary, refer to DTOS Volume #1, Part 1, for details.
