3-3 Mag Tape Adjustments (Continued)
J. Supply Hub Tension Adjustment
The “Push-lock Tension Adjustment” in the 6026 Manual, Part 3, Chapter V, describes a type of hub no
longer used on the 6026 Mag Tape. The current models employ a push-pull button mechanism for which
there is no adjustment. Decreased tension can however be caused by wear on the rubber retaining ring or by
slipping of the lock washer that holds the triangular spring plate to the shaft of the push button. In these
cases, tension may be increased by rotating the rubber retaining ring, or by securing the lock washer more
tightly to the push button shaft.
3-4 Disk System Adjustments
The primary references for the disk system are Data General Documentation #11 and #12. If a procedure is
described adequately in the Data General documentation, a reference is given. If additional information is
needed, it will be given here.
A. Spindle Lock Adjustment
Refer to DG #11, Part 2, for the procedure.
B. Spindle Belt Adjustment
Refer to DG #11, Part 2, for the procedure.
C. Spindle Speed Sensor Adjustment
Refer to DG #11, Part 2, for the procedure.
D. Retract Switch Adjustment
Refer to DG #11, Part 2, for the procedure.
E. Servo Null Adjustment
This adjustment may make it impossible to retrieve patient data from the disks. Archive patient data, Q Cal
and characterization files from all disk packs prior to making this adjustment.
The Servo Null adjustment should be done immediately prior to performing a head alignment to assure a
proper Servo Head reference for the head alignments. This adjustment may be done with a DMU (Disk
Maintenance Unit), if available, using the procedure contained in DG #11, Part 2, “Head Alignment”. If a DMU
is not available, use a DVM and the following procedure:
1. Set Up:
a. Set WRITE switch on the drive to DISABLE.
