3-5 Initial ZEBRA Disk Drive Check (Continued)
A limited number of ECC errors are acceptable, depending on the number of sectors that are written and
read. An ECC error that has been corrected may be seen as a data error at the same address. No other
errors are acceptable. The maximum number of acceptable ECC errors is as follows:
ZEBRA DRIVE FAILURES:
ALLOWABLE ECC ERRORS:
0 Errors for 0.25 Millions Sectors Read
1 Errors for 0.50 Millions Sectors Read
2 Errors for 0.75 Millions Sectors Read
3 Errors for 1.02 Millions Sectors Read
4 Errors for 1.30 Millions Sectors Read
5 Errors for 1.55 Millions Sectors Read
6 Errors for 1.83 Millions Sectors Read
7 Errors for 2.08 Millions Sectors Read
8 Errors for 2.35 Millions Sectors Read

IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO TURN OFF THE ODD (optical disk) and
THE MDD (OD magnetic disk)
prior to executing DG diagnostics and/or exercizers. These programs will write
data to and destroy the content of the Optical disk media or the MDD.
This section assumes that the disk drive is loaded with a formatted scratch pack (for Zebra Systems), the pack is
spinning, and the drive is READY and WRITE ENABLED. A scratch pack must be used because these
diagnostic diagnostics will destroy any data or software on the pack. Therefore, save any data, Cal
files etc. on Argus Systems prior to doing this procedure.
1. Mount and Load DTOS Tape: (For Argus Systems, Mount and Load tape labeled “DGC Diagnostic
Tape”)
a. Remove and discard the yellow WRITE ENABLE ring from the tape if this has not been done already.
b. Mount the tape on the tape drive.
c. Press the BOT switch, and wait for the BOT light (beginning of tape marker).
d. Press the ON-LINE switch, and check for the READY light.
e. At the computer, hold the LOCK switch in the UNLOCK position and press the RESET switch.
f. Observe the following:
