3-3 Mag Tape Adjustments (Continued)
C. Capstan Shimming
Refer to the procedure in the 6026 Manual, Part 4, Chapter V. This procedure also relies on the Tape Path
Alignment as previously described in Part B.
D. Capstan Velocity Adjustment
Refer to the procedure “Adjusting Capstan Velocity” in the 6026 Manual, Part 4, Chapter V. During the
procedure, the Command String Interpreter will be required. At that time, it may be loaded as previously
described in part A and used as follows:
To write all “1”s on a BLANK tape, type the underlined:
UNIT 0 ’CR’
TAPE MODE NRZI ’CR’
WC 37777 ’CR’
DATA ALL ONE ’CR’
COMMAND STRING
REW WRI 100 ’CR’
To read the skew tape:
UNIT 0 ’CR’
TAPE MODE NRZI ’CR’
WC 37777 ’CR’
DATA ’CR’
COMMAND STRING
REA 500 SPA BAC 500 ’CR’
To return the skew tape to BOT at 75 ips (never use REWIND with a skew tape):
UNIT 0 ‘CR’
TAPE MODE ‘CR’
WC 37777 ‘CR’
DATA ‘CR’
COMMAND STRING
SPA BAC 1000 ‘CR’
Repeat if needed to reach BOT.
