DTOS ONLY
The switch register may be observed or changed by typing M as described in the DTOS Manual,
Vol #1, Part 1. The switch settings for ECLMORT L may be found in the abstract in the DTOS
Manual, Volume #2, Part 1. If for any reason the program must be restarted, type Cntl-R.
j. Check the time and pass/error count occasionally during the first hour to verify accuracy of the
real time clock, and verify progress of the program with no errors.
k. Allow the program to run overnight. Check the pass/error count at the end of the run. No errors
are acceptable.
l. At the end of the run, RESET the computer at the front console by holding the UNLOCK switch
while depressing the RESET switch.
m. Remove scratch tape as follows:
- Press RESET to take drive off-line
- Press BOT to rewind tape to BOT if necessary
- Press and hold the UNLOAD switch until tape has completely rewound onto the supply
reel
- Dismount tape
3-7 Final ZEBRA Disk Drive Checkout
IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO TURN OFF THE ODD (optical disk) and THE MDD (OD magnetic disk)
prior to executing and DG diagnostics or exercizers. These programs will write data to
and destroy the content of the Optical disk media or the MDD.
1. Verify Servo Null and Alignment (Refer to Chapter 6, Section 3 of this manual if necessary)
a. Verify the Servo Null as described in Chapter 6, Section 3.
b. Check the Head Alignment using the procedure in Chapter 6, Section 3. Head alignment may
shift with extended use or during shipment. Realign any heads that are out of alignment.
c. Remove the CE alignment pack from the drive and reinstall the scratch pack.
d. If any readjustment was done on the Servo Null or Head Alignment above, you must format the
scratch pack and run at least 6 passes of ZDKP FMTR again. For details of the Formatter
program, refer to Section 3-5 of this chapter.
2. Disk Reliability
This section assumes that the scratch pack is installed, has been formatted, and 6 passes of ZDKP
FMTR have been run on the disk pack. Dual Drive Systems can run this section on both drives
simultaneously.
a. At the disk drive, press START if the pack is not spinning, wait for the READY LED to light, and
press the WRITE ENABLE switch. If running dual drives perform this on both drives.
b. Mount and load the DTOS tape. If necessary, refer to DTOS Vol #1, Part 1, for details.
