7.2 Running in the engine
During the running-in phase, do not exceed the specified engine performance.

Maximum engine performance
During the first 3 operating hours < 70 %
During the first 5 operating hours < 100 %
Avoid fully opening the throttle!
7.3 Preparing the vehicle for difficult riding conditions
Info
Use of the vehicle under difficult conditions, such as on sand or on wet and muddy surfaces, can lead
to considerably more rapid wear of components such as the drive train, brake system, or suspension
components. For this reason, it may be necessary to inspect or replace parts before the next scheduled
service.
Clean the air filter and air filter box. ( p. 57)

Check the air filter approx. every 30 minutes.
Check the electrical connector for humidity and corrosion and to ensure it is firmly seated.
» If humidity, corrosion, or damage is found:
Clean and dry the connector, or change it if necessary.
Difficult riding conditions are:
Rides on dry sand. ( p. 23)
Rides on wet sand. ( p. 25)
Rides on wet and muddy circuits. ( p. 25)
Rides at high temperatures or slow riding. ( p. 26)
Riding at low temperatures and in snow. ( p. 27)
7.4 Preparing vehicle for rides on dry sand
Make sure that no radiator covers ( p. 90) are installed.
