Immobilizer system
僅 To avoid damaging the smart key,
don't drop it, get it wet, or expose it to
heat or sunlight.
僅An inappropriately dis

battery according to your local law(s)

NOTICE
僅 If, for some reason, you happen to
lose your smart key, you will not be
able to start the vehicle. Tow the vehi

sional workshop. Kia recommends to
contact an authorized Kia dealer/ser

vice partner.
僅 A maximum of 2 smart keys can be
registered to a single vehicle. If you
lose a smart key, Kia recommends to
contact an authorized Kia dealer/ser

vice partner.
僅 When the smart key does not work
properly, open and close the door
with the mechanical key. If you have a
problem with the smart key, Kia rec

ommends to contact an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
僅 If the smart key is not moved for
some time, the detection function for
smart key operation will pause. Lift
the smart key to activate the detec
-
tion again.
Immobilizer system
The immobilizer system checks, deter -
mines, and verifies the key whenever the
vehicle is in the ON position.
Whenever the EV button is changed to
the ON position, the immobilizer system
checks and verifies if the key is valid or
not.
If the key is valid, the vehicle will start.
If the key is invalid, the vehicle will not
start.

Activating the immobilizer sys -
tem
Operation
Change the EV button to the OFF posi -
tion. The immobilizer system activates
automatically. Without a valid smart key
for your vehicle, the vehicle will not start.
WARNING
In order to prevent theft of your vehicle,
do not leave spare keys anywhere in
your vehicle. Your immobilizer password
is a customer unique password and
should be kept confidential. Do not leave
this number anywhere in your vehicle.
CAUTION
僅 Do not put metal accessories near the
EV button. Metal accessories may
interrupt the transponder signal and
