7.1 Section Control Latency
Definition Latency is the time interval from when the section switch is toggled from ON to OFF
or from OFF to ON, to when the application physically stops or starts.
Simple measure-
ment
The quickest way to estimate the latency is to use a stop watch to time the delay
between turning a section ON and the application physically starting. This may be a
very small value - a few tenths of a second - and hard to measure accurately.
Latency can be measured more accurately by measuring the distance travelled at a
given speed.
