8.1.6 Restart network
The EtherCAT master communicaon is restarted automacally if a new conguraon is
loaded on the controller.
These are the opons for restarng the communicaon:
1.
Request restart of the EtherCAT master.
1.
Commands for EtherCAT master system bus. 40x5850:001
2.
Via a funcon block that is added to the EtherCAT master in the project. Via the
funcon block input xRestart (posive edge), the EtherCAT slaves are started up aer
INIT and again aer Operaonal.
2.
Switch controller o and on again.
The EtherCAT conguraon is part of the PLC program. If the changes are to
remain even aer the voltage switching of the controller, the boot project must
be recreated.

8.1.7 Parameter data transfer
For conguring and diagnosing the EtherCAT devices, the parameters are accessed by means
of acyclic communicaon.
•
Parameter data is transferred as SDOs (Service Data Objects) .
•
The SDO services enable write and read access to parameters, EtherCAT objects and
prole-specic objects.
•
The transfer of parameter data is usually not me-crical.
•
Parameter data is, for instance, operang parameters, motor data and diagnosc
informaon.
SDOs are read and wrien internally automacally via the EtherCAT master. SDO access is also
possible via the funcon blocks of the PLC program.
