The Z-axis position of the focus mechanism,
displayed on the status display panel, increases
when the nosepiece is elevated, and decreases
when the nosepiece is lowered.
Once you have set the focus at the desired height,
pressing the Z-RESET switch on the front operation
panel and resetting the Z-axis position display will
allow you to use the set position as a reference point
for focus adjustment.
