2. After the SMM-2 is connected to the laptop computer, the OS will automatically
search for the RNDIS Ethernet driver. After it fails to find the driver, the computer
displays a message indicating that the driver is missing. To install the driver refer to
the instructions below for your computer’s operating system (Windows 7, 8 or XP).
Windows 7 and Windows 8 RNDIS Ethernet Driver Installation
1. Right-click on the Computer icon on your Desktop, select Manage and the Computer
Management window will appear.
2. From System Tools, select Device Manager and it will list the devices currently
connected to the computer. In the list, RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget appears in the Other
devices sub-list, which indicates that the driver has not been installed (refer to
Figure 5.7).
3. Right-click on RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget, then select Update Driver Software... (refer
to Figure 5.7).
