7.1 Introduction
Functionality of the cold mirror
The location of the cold mirror in the light path is betw een the light source (x enon lamp) and the light pipe. The cold mirror reflects
the visible light and absorbs the infra red light. Due to this absorbing, a lot of heat is produced. The cold mirror is mounted with the
rear s ide upon a big heat sink. The fan above the heat sink blows c old air upon the heat sink and cold. The hot air is transported to
the outside of the projector. The cold mirror has three adjus tment screws to m odify the position of the c old mirror s o that the centre
of the light s pot is precisely reflected in the ce ntre of the integration rod entranc e for optimal performance.

Diagnostic
The easiest way to check the condition of the cold mirror is by removing the lamp unit. When the lamp unit is removed, the cold
mirror become s visible at the en d of the lam p compart
ment. In case the cold mirror is no t damaged but dirt is clearly visible upon
the surface of the mirror it is recom mended to clean the cold mirror. Always r eplace the cold m irror with a new o ne in case the cold
mirror is damaged. P oss ible damages are:
• Cold mirror is broken.
• Coating peels off.
• Cold mirror is cracked.
