Charging the battery (fig. 32)
Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from
the motorcycle.
Remove the r.h. body panel (page 37), undo the screw (1)
and remove the upper bracket.
Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first,
and then the red positive terminal (+).
Warning
Batteries develop explosive gases: keep it away
from heat sources and flames.
Charge the battery in a ventilated room.
Connect the battery charger leads to the battery
terminals - red to positive terminal (+), black to negative
terminal (-).
Important
Make sure the charger is off when you connect the
battery to it, or you might get sparks at the battery
terminals that could ignite the gases inside the cells.
Always connect the red positive terminal (+) first.
Reinstall the battery on its mount and secure the upper
bracket with the screw (1). Connect the terminals. Use
some grease on the fastening screws to improve
conductive capacity.
Warning
Keep the battery out of the reach of children.
Charge the battery at 1 A for 5-10 hours.
