EXPLANATION OF COMPONENTS
ACCUMULATOR, HANDLING
WARNING
On machines equipped with an accumulator, for a short time after the engine is stopped, if the work equipment control lever is
moved to the LOWER position, the work equipment will move down under its own weight.
After stopping the engine, always place the safety lever and parking lever in the LOCK position.
The accumulator is charged with high-pressure nitrogen gas, so improper operation may cause an explosion which will lead to
serious injury or damage. When handling the accumulator, always do as follows.
Pressure in the control circuit cannot be completely removed. When removing the hydraulic equipment, do not stand in the
direction that oil spurts out when performing the operation.
Loosen the bolts slowly.
Do not disassemble the accumulator.
Do not bring it near flame or dispose of it in fire.
Do not make holes in it or weld it.
Do not hit it, roll it, or subject it to any impact.
When disposing of the accumulator, the gas must be released. Contact your Komatsu distributor for proper disposal.
The accumulator is a device to store the pressure in the control
circuit, and when it is installed, the control circuit can be operated
for a short time even after the engine is stopped.
Therefore, if the control lever is moved in the direction to lower the
work equipment, it is possible for the work equipment to move
under its own weight.
The accumulator is installed in the position shown in the diagram
on the right.
METHOD OF RELEASING PRESSURE IN OPERATING CIRCUIT ON MACHINE EQUIPPED WITH
ACCUMULATOR
1.
Lower the work equipment and stop the engine.
2.
After stopping the engine, operate control lever full strokes to
the front, rear, left, and right to release pressure inside the work
equipment circuit.
However, the pressure cannot be completely released, so if
accumulator in the work equipment circuit is removed, loosen
the screws slowly, and never stand in the direction oil spurts
out.
