LONG-TERM STORAGE
BEFORE STORAGE
When putting the machine in storage for a long time, do as follows.
Clean and wash all parts, then store the machine indoors. If the machine has to be stored outdoors, select level
ground and cover the machine with canvas.
Fill the fuel tank to prevent moisture from accumulating.
Completely fill the fuel tank, lubricate and change the oil before storage.
Apply a thin coat of grease to metal surface of the hydraulic piston rods and the idler adjusting rods.
Disconnect the negative terminals of the battery and cover it, or remove it from the machine and store it
separately.
Place all control levers at the neutral position, set the safety lock lever and parking lever to the LOCK position,
and set the fuel control dial to the low idling position.
To prevent rust, fill the radiator with engine coolant with an antifreeze density of at least 30%.
DURING STORAGE
WARNING
When it is necessary to perform the rust-preventive operation while the machine is indoors, open the doors and windows to
improve ventilation and prevent gas poisoning.
During storage, always operate the machine once a month so that a new film of oil will be coated over movable
parts and component surfaces. At the same time, also charge the battery.
For machines equipped with an air conditioner, run the air conditioner.
AFTER STORAGE
NOTICE
If the machine has been stored without the monthly rust prevention operation, consult your Komatsu distributor for service.
When using the machine after long-term storage, do as follows before using it.
Wipe off the grease from the hydraulic cylinder rods.
Add oil and grease at all lubrication points.
When the machine is stored for a long period, moisture in the air can contaminate the oil over time. Check the oil
for presence of water before and after starting the engine. If there is water in the oil, change the oil.
