CheckingtheHydraulicLinesandHoses
WARNING
Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecanpenetrateskinand
causeinjury.
•Ensurethatallhydraulic-uidhosesandlinesareingood
conditionandallhydraulicconnectionsandttingsaretight
beforeapplyingpressuretothehydraulicsystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompinholeleaksornozzles
thatejecthigh-pressurehydraulicuid.
•Useapieceofcardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
•Releaseallpressureinthehydraulicsystembeforeperforming
anyworkonthesystem.
•Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifhydraulicuidisinjected
intoyourskin.
IMPORTANT
Checkthehydrauliclinesandhosesdailyforleaks,kinked
lines,loosemountingsupports,wear,loosettings,andhose
deterioration.Repairthedamagedhydrauliclinesandhosesbefore
operatingthemachine.
PrimingtheHydraulicPumps
Whenthehydraulicsystemisushed,thehydraulicsystemischarged,orthe
hydrauliccomponentsareinstalled,itisimportanttoproperlyprimethehydraulic
pumps.Thehydraulicpumpprimingensuresthatthegearpumpandpiston
(traction)pumphavesufcientuidduringinitialstart-upandrunning.The
pumpscanbeprimedbyusingaremotestarterswitch(refertoSpecialT ools
(page4–27))tocranktheenginewhichallowsthepumpstoprime.
Usethefollowingproceduretoprimethehydraulicpumps:
1.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFpositionandthekeyisremoved
fromthekeyswitch.
2.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulicreservoirandaddcorrect
quantityofuidifnecessary;refertotheOperator’sManual.
