ThetractioncircuitoftheGroundsmaster360machinesisaclosedloopsystem
thatincludesthedualpiston(traction)pumpand4wheelmotors.Ifacomponent
failureoccursinthetractioncircuit(e.g.,traction(piston)pumporwheelmotor),
unwantedmaterialandcontaminationfromthedamagedcomponentwill
circulatethroughoutthetractioncircuit.Thiscontaminationcandamageother
componentsinthecircuit,soremovethecontaminationtopreventadditional
componentfailure.
Therecommendedmethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitis
totemporarilyinstallaTorohighowhydraulic-uidlterintothecircuit;refer
toHighFlowHydraulicFilterKit(page4–30).Useahighowhydraulic-uid
lterwhenyouconnecthydraulictestgaugesinordertotestthetractioncircuit
componentsorafteryoureplaceafailedtractioncircuitcomponent(e.g.,traction
(piston)pumporwheelmotor).Usingahighowhydraulic-uidlterwillremove
contaminatesfromthehydraulicuidinthetractioncircuit,therebypreventing
additionalcomponentdamage.
AfteryouhaveinstalledtheTorohighowhydraulic-uidlterinthetraction
circuit,raiseandsupportthemachinewithallthedrivewheelsofftheground.
Then,operatethetractioncircuittoallowthehydraulicuidtoowthroughthe
circuit.Thelterremovescontaminationfromthetractioncircuitduringthecircuit
operation.BecausetheT orohighowlterisbi-directional,thetractioncircuit
canbeoperatedinboththeforwardandreversedirection.Whenyouarecertain
thatthelterhasremovedthecontaminatesfromthehydraulicuidofthetraction
circuit,removethelter.RefertoFilteringtheClosed-LoopTractionCircuit(page
4–72)foradditionalinformationonusingtheTorohighowhydraulic-uidlter.
Thealternativemethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitisto
disassembletheentiretractioncircuit,drainthehydraulicuid,andcleanallthe
components,tubes,andhosesinthetractioncircuit.Operatingthemachine
withcontaminantsinthetractioncircuitcouldcauseadditionaldamageto
componentsofthetractioncircuit.
