ThetransmissionoftheGroundsmaster360machineconsistsofahydraulic,
multi-plateclutchthatisusedtoengagethePTO.ThehydraulicowforthePTO
clutchengagementisprovidedbythetransmission-chargepump.
WhenthePTOswitchisturnedon(pulledup),thetransmissionsolenoidvalve
isenergizedtoallowthehydraulicowtoengagethePTOclutch.AsthePTO
clutchengages,anintegralPTObrakeisreleasedatthesametimetoallowthe
rotationofthePTOdriveshaftandthecuttingdeck.Anoriceandaccumulatorin
thetransmissionpreventsuddenengagementofthePTO.
WARNING
TheGroundsmaster360machinehasahydraulicaccumulatorbuilt
intothetransmissionthatstoresenergybycompressingaspring.
Thispressuremustbereleasedbeforedisconnectingordoingany
workonthehydraulicsystem;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page4–5).
ThepressuretothePTOclutchislimitedbythepressurevalveinthe
transmission.Thepressurevalvesettingis1,951to2,351kPa(283to341psi).
WhenthePTOswitchisturnedoff(pusheddown),thetransmissionsolenoid
valveisde-energizedandthePTOclutchisdisengaged.TheintegralPTObrake
isappliedtocontrolthestoppingrateofthedriveshaftandcuttingdeck.When
thetransmissionsolenoidvalveisde-energized,thehydraulicaccumulatoris
allowedtodischargestoredhydraulicuidbacktothehydraulictank.
