IMPORTANT
Beforeinstallingthetierodend,cleanthetapersofthesteering
forkandtierodend.Ensurethatthetapersarefreeofgrease,oil,
rust,anddirt.Donotuseanti-seizelubricant,whenyouinstallthe
tierodend.
Note:Ifnecessary,tightentheslottedhexnutfurtheruntiltheslotinhexnut
alignswiththeholeinthetierodballjointstud.
8.Connectthetierodend(item1inFigure272)tothefrontsteeringforkwith
theslottedhexnut.Tightenthehexnutfrom48to54N∙m(35to40ft-lb).
Installanewcotterpin.
9.Lubricatethesteeringforkspindlethroughthegreasettingontheaxle.
Greaseshouldpurgefromtheendsofthespindleidentifyingthatthegrease
cavityiscompletelylled.Wipeupexcessgrease.
10.Installthewheelassembly;refertoInstallingtheWheel(page6–14).
WARNING
Failuretomaintainpropertorquecouldresultinfailureorlossof
wheelandmayresultinpersonalinjury.
Maintainthepropertorqueofthewheel-lugnuts.
11.Checkandadjustthewheelalignment;refertoAligningtheWheels(page
6–8).
12.Ensurethatthereisnocontactbetweenthemachinecomponentswhilethe
wheelsmovefromlocktolock.Adjustifnecessary.
