Print-Quality Defect Definitions
The following table lists the print-quality defect corrective procedure, their
definition, and the page where each procedure is provided.

The overall image density is too light in all

Vertical Blank Lines There are faded or completely non-printed lines
along the page.

Horizontal Band,
Voids, or Streaks
There are areas of the image that are extremely
light or are missing entirely.

Vertical Stripes There are black lines along the page in the
direction of the paper travel.

Horizontal Stripes There are dark lines running parallel with the
leading edge of the print.

Partial Band There are areas of the image that are extremely
light or are missing in a limited area.

Random Spots There are spots of toner randomly scattered
across the page.

Spots
There are recurring lines, marks, or spots on the

Background
Contamination
There is toner contamination on all or most of
the page.

Skew The printed image is not paralleled with both
sides of the paper.

Damaged Paper The paper comes out from the printer wrinkled,
folded, or worn-out.

Unfused Image The toner image is not completely fused to the
paper. The image easily rubs off.

Color Registration A printed yellow or black image is not
overlapped on a cyan or magenta image
correctly.
