Rear brake

Attention:
Never separate the brake caliper sections!
•
Detach the lower end of the strut (1) and tie it up
out of the way
e
Attention:
Avoid scratching or otherwise damaging the wheel
rim, mask off brake caliper if necessary!
•
Firmly press the brake caliper against the brake
disc in order to force back the brake pads and
pistons

Note:
If the brake pads/pistons cannot be forced back in
this way, this may indicate a defect in the brake sys-
tem!
•
Remove the cotter pin (1) from dowel pin (2)
•
Remove dowel pin (2) with extractor,
BMW No. 34 1 570
•
Pull out the brake pads toward the rear
•
Pull support plate (1) back and up
