Removing the Front Module Cage Assembly and Midplane
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You
should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.
NOTE: A Torx T15 driver is required for this procedure.

Press the system power switch to turn off the system. See "System Control
Panel Features" on page 16.
NOTE: To avoid damaging the modules, you must remove all the modules installed
in the enclosure before removing the front module cage assembly and midplane.
NOTE: If you remove the chassis from the rack, you must remove all modules
before moving the chassis. Do not use the LCD display as a handle when moving the
chassis.

Remove all of the blades. See "Removing a Blade" on page 145.

Remove the power supply modules. See "Removing a Power Supply
Module" on page 266.

Remove the fan modules. See "Removing a Fan Module" on page 269.

Remove the CMC module(s). See "Removing a CMC Module" on
page 271.

Remove the iKVM module. See "Removing an iKVM Module" on
page 274.

Remove the I/O modules. See "Removing an I/O Module" on page 274.

Remove the four screws securing the front module cage assembly to the
enclosure. See Figure 4-8.
