1.3 Servicing Call Details
1.3.1 Initial Actions
1 Ask the operator(s) about the machine condition.
z Frequency and position of paper jams
z Quality of copy/print
2 Check the billing meter readings.
3 Inspect any printing error, and then check the machine.
4 Check the copy/print samples and the Service Log of the previous service.
1.3.2 Checking Repeatability
1 Perform troubleshooting to check the status of the trouble.
2 If no item is applicable, perform troubleshooting according to "Chapter 7 Wiring Data".
1.3.3 Checking Copy Quality
1 Check the print quality using the test patterns on the machine. (For how to output test patterns,
refer to "Test Print" in Menu Tree and in "6.8 Print Function Test (Test Print)" in Chapter 6.
2 Check the Drum, Transfer Roll(BTR), and Heat Roll/Pressure Belt for any flaw.
3 Check image quality, nonuniformity, and improper low-density reproducibility.
1.3.4 Trim Servicing
TRIM Servicing is performed in all SM/UM to maintain the performance of the machine. Independent
visits for TRIM Servicing does not take place.
1 Perform necessary TRIM items according to the TRIM check list.
2 For the periodic replacement parts, check the life co
unte
r values based on "1.5 Periodic
Replacement Parts" and "Parameter List Print (Print)", and replace them if necessary. If you
have replaced a part, be sure to reset the life counter value of the applicable item.
To check the life counter values, refer to Chapter 6 "6.9.3 Parameter List Print (Print)" and print the
life counter values.
To reset the counter, refer to Chapter 6 "6.9.2 Display and Initialization of the Life Counter(Life)" and
initialize the life counter values of Trans Unit PV.
