Chapter 6 General
6.4 Service Mode
6-33
6.4.6 CE Mode Functions Overview
Items that can be executed in the CE mode are listed in the table below.
6.4.6.1 Printer Diag
Table 6-28 Function Names and Descriptions (Printer Diag)
Function Description See
ESS Diag
All Test
Continually performs FlashROM, EEPROM, DRAM,
ASIC, and IOT. (MAC+PHY, PANEL, USB Host, and
RTC are not performed.)
6.5.1
FlashROM Test
Calculates the checksum per Flash ROM header area
and compares the result with the area-specific check-
sum stored in the ROM in advance. If the checksum val-
ues of all areas match, the status is regarded as normal.
6.5.2
EEPROM Test
Writes, reads, and verifies the test data (0xff, 0xaa,
0x55, and 0x00) on the EEPROM at every 0x400
address from the head address.
6.5.3
DRAM Test
Writes/reads/verifies the test data in the BMM area
within the memory area (standard + optional DIMM) of
the DRAM. The optional memory area is tested only
when the optional DIMM is installed.
Writes the test data (0x55555555, 0xaaaaaaaa, and
0xffffffff) sequentially in the BMM area from the head
address to the tail address, and then reads and verifies
the entire area. Restores the BMM area after complet-
ing the test.
6.5.4
MAC+PHY Test
Performs an internal test without using any jig on MAC
(Media Access Control) and PHY (Physical Layer).
6.5.5
ASIC Test
Performs a test of Zoran Quatro 45xx by reading the
timer counter of Zoran Quatro 45xx.
6.5.6
IOT Test
Performs a communication test between the IOT. The
communication test verifies communication by reading
the ROM revision number of the IOT.
6.5.7
USB Host Test (Only
when a USB storage
device is inserted in the
Front USB Port)
Verifies the communication between the Front USB Port
and the USB storage device inserted in it.
6.5.8
RTC Test
Backs up the current time and writes the default value.
Verification is made by confirming that the expected
time arrives after a certain duration and then by restor-
ing the back up time. Performing the RTC test delays
the internal clock of the device by approximately 2 sec-
onds.
