Install SFP Module

Remove SFP Module
Danger: Never look into the end of a ber-opc cable. Permanent eye damage or blindness can occur very
quickly if the laser light is present. Follow local safety precauons regarding ber.
Danger: Never handle exposed ber with bare hands or touch it to bare skin. Fiber fragments can enter
the skin and are dicult to detect and remove. Follow local safety precauons regarding ber.
Step 1
Inspect the module for damage or debris, and remove the opcal connector cover.
Step 2
Locate the PIU or blade into which the module is to be installed.
Step 3
If necessary, record the serial number and issue number of the module being installed.
Step 4
Install and secure the SFP module into the proper port on the front of the PIU or blade.
Warning:
Do not push the module quickly into the slot (port) on the front of the PIU or blade. Seat the
module with a slow but rm moon to avoid damage to the module and slot (port).
Step 5
Are bers to be connected to the module at this me?
If YES:
Connue with next step.
If NO:
Aach a protecve dust cap on the opcal receptacle. This procedure is complete.
Step 6
Clean the opcal connectors.
Step 7
Connect the ber-opc cables to the module.
✓ This task is complete.
