Overview
The 1FINITY L-Series soluon is Fujitsu next-generaon ROADM network soluon, which consists of an L100
ROADM conguraon, an L130 ROADM conguraon, an L160 Raman conguraon, and an L200 ILA
conguraon. The L100 ROADM conguraon is based on Colorless, Direconless (CD) and exible grid add/drop
architecture. The L130 ROADM conguraon is based on Colorless, Direconless, Contenonless (CDC) and
exible grid architecture. A state-of-the-art ROADM network can be constructed with the L100 conguraon, or
the L130 conguraon, or a combinaon of both conguraons. The L-Series soluon provides the opmal level
of exibility at the opcal layer to support rapid bandwidth and capacity provisioning, topology exibility, and
simplied operaons.
Colorless
Classic ROADMs are limited by xed add/drop transceiver and wavelength assignments. Wavelengths selected in
these deployments rely on transceivers that are manually connected to the right mux/demux port at the add/
drop side. All add/drop sides must be physically wired and rewired whenever a change is made.
A colorless ROADM automates the assignment of add/drop wavelength funconality through the use of
addional Wavelength Selectable Switches (WSSs) in place of dierent mux/demux ports. Any wavelength can be
assigned to any port at the add/drop side without a technician.
Direconless
Classic ROADMs are direconally dependent, which means add/drop port pairs and the transponders connected
to them are xed to an outgoing direcon. Direconless ROADMs allow any wavelength to route in any direcon
served by the node.
Contenonless
Wavelength blocking occurs when two wavelengths of the same color converge at the same WSS at the same
me, creang network contenon. Classic ROADMs require operators to manually paron the add/drop
structures so that dierent colored wavelengths are associated with dierent structures.
This approach reduces exibility and requires extra add/drop structures to accommodate parcular channels.
Contenonless architecture, by contrast, allows mulple copies on the same wavelength on a single add/drop
structure with no paroning restricons.
