Overview
The 1FINITY L-Series soluon is Fujitsu next-generaon ROADM network soluon, which consists of an L100
ROADM conguraon, an L130 ROADM conguraon, an L160 Raman conguraon, and an L200 ILA
conguraon. The L100 ROADM conguraon is based on Colorless, Direconless (CD) and exible grid add/drop
architecture. The L130 ROADM conguraon is based on Colorless, Direconless, Contenonless (CDC) and
exible grid architecture. A state-of-the-art ROADM network can be constructed with the L100 conguraon, or
the L130 conguraon, or a combinaon of both conguraons. The L-Series soluon provides the opmal level
of exibility at the opcal layer to support rapid bandwidth and capacity provisioning, topology exibility, and
simplied operaons.
Colorless
Classic ROADMs are limited by xed add/drop transceiver and wavelength assignments. Wavelengths selected in
these deployments rely on transceivers that are manually connected to the right mux/demux port at the add/
drop side. All add/drop sides must be physically wired and rewired whenever a change is made.
A colorless ROADM automates the assignment of add/drop wavelength funconality through the use of
addional Wavelength Selectable Switches (WSSs) in place of dierent mux/demux ports. Any wavelength can be
assigned to any port at the add/drop side without a technician.
Direconless
Classic ROADMs are direconally dependent, which means add/drop port pairs and the transponders connected
to them are xed to an outgoing direcon. Direconless ROADMs allow any wavelength to route in any direcon
served by the node.
Contenonless
Wavelength blocking occurs when two wavelengths of the same color converge at the same WSS at the same
me, creang network contenon. Classic ROADMs require operators to manually paron the add/drop
structures so that dierent colored wavelengths are associated with dierent structures.
This approach reduces exibility and requires extra add/drop structures to accommodate parcular channels.
Contenonless architecture, by contrast, allows mulple copies on the same wavelength on a single add/drop
structure with no paroning restricons.
