CYLINDER/PISTON INSPECTION
CYLINDER
Inspect the cylinder bore for scratch, wear or dam-
age .
Measure the cylinder I.D. in the X and Y axes at
three levels.
Take the maximum reading to determine the cylin-
der wear .
SERVICE liMIT: 78.025 mm (3 .0718 in)
Calculate the piston-ta - cylinder clearance.
Take a
max i mum reading to determine the clear-
ance.
For piston O.D (page 9-6 ).
SERVICE LIMIT : 0.085 mm (0.0033 in)
CYLINDER/PISTON
Calculate the taper and out - ot - round at three levels ,-- ------ -- --------
in the X and Y axes. Take the maximum reading to
determine the cylinde r condition .
SERVICE LIMITS :
Taper: 0.010 mm (0 .0004 in)
Out - ot -ro und : 0. 010 mm (0.0004 in)
Inspect the top of the cylinder for warpage .
SERVICE LIMIT: 0, 05 mm (0 .002 in)
PISTON/PISTON RING INSPECTION
Remove the carbon or deposits from the pi ston
head or piston ring grooves.
Inspect the piston for d amage and the ring grooves
for wear.
