Honda 2004 CRF250X Service Manual

Check the chain guide and chain guide slider for
align ment, wear or damage .
Replace the chain guide if it is damaged or worn .
Replace the chain guide slider if the slider is worn to
the bot1om of the wear l im it groove.
DRIVE CHAIN ROLLER
Remove the side stand (page 14-29).
Inspect the dri ve chain rollers for excessive wear or
binding .
SERVICE LIMIT :
Minimum roller 0 .0 . ('04, '05):
Upper : 29 mm (1 .1 in)
lower : 39 mm (1 .5 in)
Minimum roller 0 .0 . ( After '05 ):
Upper : 29 mm (1.1 in)
Lower : 31 mm (1.2 in)

Replace the roller if necessary. and tighten the ro ller r: A~ ft - e - ' ~ 'O ~ 5 ~ ' -------:----- ----- '
bolt/nut to the specified torque.

TORQUE:
Upper hott :12 N'm (1. 2 kgf ·m, 9Ibf.ft)
Lower nut: 12 N·m (1 .2 kgf ·m. 9lbHt)
Install the drive chain upper roller (Green) with the
flat faci ng out.
'04, '05. Install the drive ch ain lower roller (Black) with the
n ..... " mark facing out.
After '05. Install the drive ch ain lower roller (Black) with the
flat faci ng the frame.
DRIVE/DRIVEN SPROCKET

Inspect the drive and driven sprocket teeth for wear ,--------------- -- ,
or damage, replace if necessary.
Never use a
new drive chain on worn sprockets.
Both chain
and sprockets must be in good condi-
tion, or the new repl acement chain will wear rap -
idly.
Check the bolts and nuts on the drive and driven
sprockets.
If any are loose, torque them.
TORQUE:
Drive sprocket bolt:
31 N'm (3.2 kgf ·m, 23 Ibf.ft )
Driven sprocket nut :
32 N'm (3.3 kgf ·m, 24 IbHt )
