INSTALLATION
• Check the gear movement and rotat ion on the
shaft.
• Install the washers and snap rings with the
chamfered edge facing the thrust load side.
• Do not reuse worn snap rings which co uld easily
spin in the grooves.
• Check that the snap rings are seated in the
grooves. Align their end gaps with the grooves in
the spline.
Apply transmission oil to the following parts:
- Each gear
- Mainshaft bearings
- Countershaft bearings

Shift drum bearings
Engage
the mainshaft and countershaft gears and
place the transmission assembly into the right
crankcase.
• Each shift fork has an identification mark, "Rn is
for the right shift fork, "l " is the left shift fork and
"C" is for the center shift fork.
• Face the shift fork marks to the r ight crankcase.
Apply transmission oil to the shift drum guide
grooves.
Apply molybdenum oi l solution to the following
parts:
- Shift fork claws and guide pins
- Shift fork sliding surfaces
- Shift fork shafts
Install the shift forks to the grooves in the sliding
gears.
Install the shift drum by aligning the guide pins on
the shift forks with the guide grooves in the shift
drum.
