REAR
Remove the following:
– exhaust pipe/muffler (page 3-15)
– brake hose protector (page 16-5)
Push the caliper piston all the way in to allow instal-
lation of new brake pads.
Remove the rear caliper mounting bolts and rear
brake caliper from the swingarm.
Hold the rear caliper pin and remove the rear caliper
bolt.
Remove the brake pads.
Clean the inside of the caliper especially around the
caliper piston.
Install new pads so that their ends are set in the pad
retainers on the caliper bracket properly.
Check the fluid level
in the master cylin-
der reservoir as this
operation causes
the fluid level to
rise.

Always replace the
brake pads in pairs
to ensure even disc
pressure.
