302 IBM Eserver i5 and iSeries System Handbook
9411-100 Eserver p5 I/O Sub-system for i5/OS
The 9411-100 Eserver p5 I/O Subsystem for i5/OS provides a machine
type/model 9411-100 with prices, warranty, and service identical to that provided
for the same I/O features on a 9406 model 570, 590, or 595.The 9411-100 i5/OS
I/O is basically an administrative holder of i5 I/O that is attached to p5.
Since many iSeries I/O components are different from pSeries I/O components,
i5/OS needs iSeries I/O. For example, only i5/OS uses an IOP and disk drives
are formatted differently and have additional function. The 9411-100 is also the
structure under which the 5250 OTLP capability is ordered. Like the iSeries, each
Enterprise Enablement feature provides one processor authorization of 5250
Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) capacity.
There is a maximum of one 9411-100 for each pSeries server. A unique
9411-100 serial number is always associated with a specific Eserver p5 server
and stays with that server, it can not be transferred to a different p5 serial
number. However, all the I/O features associated with the 9411-100, with the
exception of the Enterprise Enablement feature, may be transferred to another
9411-100 associated with a different Eserver p5 server. If the customer already
has all the iSeries I/O they already need, the 9411-100 would start as an empty
model, and the branch office supporting the customer would transfer these
already existing iSeries I/O feature, which are going to be used by i5/OS, into this
9411-100. If the customer needs additional iSeries I/O, new iSeries I/O features
are ordered against that 9411.
The 9411-100 Eserver p5 I/O Sub-system for i5/OS is supported on the
following p5 models:
The 1.65GHz 9117 570 supports one processor worth of i5/OS workload.
The 1.65GHz 9119 590 and 595 supports up to two processors worth of
i5/OS workload.
The i5/OS I/O uses the same hardware feature codes as used for the 9406
machine type. For technical planning information refer to:

i5/OS Consolidates the i5/OS”
An i5/OS license at V5R3 or later is required for each processor. For example, if
a customer with a pSeries model 595 wishes to run two processors of i5/OS
workload, they would order two i5/OS licenses against the 9411-100 i5/OS
