The following applies for simplied pressurized devices with type of protection Ex pz for use in
hazardous Zone 2 and Zone 22 (does not apply when operated under NFPA 496):
• Never insert ammable gas/air mixtures whose composition lies above the lower
ammable level (LFL) even occasionally!

Power must not be restored after enclosure has been opened until enclosure has been purged
for 10 minutes at a ow rate of 60 l/min.
2.5.2.4 Type of protection "Ex t"

Devices that are operated with the type of protection Ex t "Dust protection through enclosure"
are not designed for introducing ammable gas mixtures. Otherwise, there is a danger of
explosion.
Therefore:
• For operation with the type of protection Ex t, introduce only non-
ammable sample gases.
• Close all open connections, such as purging gas connections, gas tight.
2.5.3 Qualied personnel for hazardous area applications
Qualied personnel for hazardous area applications
Persons who install, connect, commission, operate, and service the device in a hazardous
area must have the following specic qualications:
• They are authorized, trained or instructed in operating and maintaining devices and systems
according to the safety regulations for electrical circuits, high pressures, aggressive, and
hazardous media.
• They are authorized, trained, or instructed in carrying out work on electrical circuits for
hazardous systems.
• They are trained or instructed in maintenance and use of appropriate safety equipment
according to the pertinent safety regulations.
