5.1 Basic safety notes
WARNING
Introduction of toxic and harmful gases into the device
Danger of poisoning
Various gases with compositions known only to the operator can occur in introduced gas
mixtures. The introduction of toxic gas mixtures can result in poisoning.
• Only introduce gas mixtures into the device whose composition is known to you and that
are suitable for analysis in the respective device. Observe the safety information in these
operating instructions. If in doubt, contact your local SIEMENS partner.
• In the case of toxic, aggressive and/or ammable gases, ensure that the components are
suitable for use.
WARNING
Improper commissioning in hazardous areas
Device failure or risk of explosion in hazardous areas.
• Do not commission the device until it has been mounted completely and connected in
accordance with the information in AUTOHOTSPOT.
• Before commissioning take the eect on other devices in the system into account.
WARNING
Danger of poisoning by escaping gas
Leaky gas paths lead to accumulation of the sample gas in the device.
• Check whether the threaded joints at the gas connections are secure. Tighten the threaded
joints with a suitable open-ended wrench, if necessary. In the process, make sure that you
counter properly.
• Check the gas paths for leaks. See section "Checking gas paths for leaks (Page68)".
