Warning Lights
Note:
• When the ignition is switched on, the
instrument warning lights illuminate
for two seconds and then go off
(except those which remain on until
the engine starts, as described in the
following pages).
Engine Management System
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
The Malfunction Indicator Light
(MIL) for the engine manage-
ment system illuminates briefly
when the ignition is switched
on (to indicate that it is working), but is
not illuminated when the engine is
running.
If the MIL becomes illuminated when the
engine is running, this indicates that a
fault has occurred in one or more of the
systems controlled by the engine
manage-ment system. In such
circumstances, the engine management
system will switch to 'limp-home' mode
so that the journey may be completed, if
the fault is not so severe that the engine
will not run.
Note:
• If the MIL flashes when the ignition
is switched ON, contact an
authorised Triumph dealer as soon
as possible to have the situation
rectified. In these circumstances the
engine will not start.
Reduce speed and do not continue to
ride for longer than is necessary with
the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
illuminated. The fault may adversely
affect engine performance, exhaust
emissions and fuel consumption.
Reduced engine performance could
cause a dangerous riding condition,
leading to loss of control and an
accident. Contact an authorised
Triumph dealer as soon as possible to
have the fault checked and rectified.
