IP protocol support
All Digi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily devicesinclude an on-board TCP/IPstack with a built-in
web server. Supported protocolsvary by specific product and include, unless otherwise noted:

Serial data communication over TCP and UDP
Digi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily products support serial data communication over TCPand
UDP. The key features include:
n
Serial data communication over TCPcan automatically perform the following functions:
l
Establish bi-directional TCPconnections, known as autoconnections, between the serial
device and a server or other network device. Autoconnectionsare based on data and/or
serial hardware signals.
l
Control forwarding characteristics based on size, time, and pattern.
l
Allow incoming raw, telnet, and SSL/TLS(secure-socket) connections.
l
Support RFC2217, an extension of thetelnet protocol.
n
Serial data communication over UDPcan automatically perform the following functions:
l
Digi Connect products can automatically send serial data to one or more devices or
systems on the network using UDPsockets. Options for sending data includewhether
specific data ison the serial line, a specific timeperiod haselapsed, or after the specified
number of byteshasbeen received on the serial port.
l
Control forwarding characteristics based on size, time, and patterns.
l
Support incoming datagrams from multiple destinations.
l
Support outgoing datagrams sent to multiple destinations.
n
TCP/UDPforwarding characteristics.
