Test GPIO pins
After you configure the GPIOpinsand any alarms associated with them, test the GPIOpinsto ensure
they work as desired.
Test GPIOinput
You can use input signals on GPIOpinsto trigger an email alarm, which tells an administrator or
technician that a significant event occurred within the device. To test GPIOinput:
1. On the SW2 bank of switches on the development board, ensure that one of the GPIOpinsis
set to High.
2. On the SW1 bank of switches, set the same GPIOpin to IO.
3. Configure the GPIOpin for input. See GPIOpins.
4. Configure an email alarm for the GPIOpin. See Alarms Configuration.
5. Toggle the SW2 switch several times to generate several email alarms.
Test GPIOoutput
To test GPIOoutput, you must send aGPIOsignal from the configuration application that turnson an
LEDon the development board.
1. On the SW2 bank of switches on the development board, ensure that one of the GPIOpinsis
set to High.
2. On the SW1 bank of switches, set the same GPIOpin to IO.
3. Accessand log in to the web interface.
4. Click GPIO. On the GPIOpage, configure one or more GPIOpinsfor output. See GPIOpins for
details.
5. Under Administration, click System Information.
6. On the System Information page, click GPIO.
7. Choose Asserted to raise the signal, and then click Set Pins. An LEDon the development
board is turned on.
Note Thisprocess doesnot configure the Digi device. Settingsare not saved. If the module
reboots, perform steps2and 3 again.
Alarms Configuration
Usethe AlarmsConfiguration page to configure device alarmsand displaying alarm settings. Device
alarmssend email messages or SNMPtrapswhen certain device eventsoccur. These device events
include changes in GPIOsignals, data patternsdetected in the data stream
