TheIPSettings page allowsyou to configure how to obtain the IPaddress of theDigi Connect and
ConnectPort TSFamily device. You can use oneof the following methodsto obtain theIP address:

Static IPaddress
n
Subnet mask

Default gateway

IP settings
TheIPsettingsfor all Digi devicesbut Digi Connect ES4/8 SBwith Switch areas follows.

Obtain an IP addressautomatically using DHCP: When the Digi device isrebooted, it will
obtain new network settings.
n
Use the following IP Address: Choose thisoption to supply static settings. An IPaddressand
Subnet mask must be entered. Other items arenot mandatory, but may be needed for some
functions(such as talking to other networks).

IP Address: An IPaddressislike a telephone number for a computer. Other network devices
talk to this Digi device using this ID.
TheIPaddressisa 4-part IDassigned to network devices. IPaddressesarein the form of
192.168.2.2, where each number isbetween 0 and 255.

Subnet Mask: The Subnet Mask iscombined with the IPaddressto determine which network
thisDigi device ispart of. Acommon subnet mask is255.255.255.0.

Default Gateway: IPaddress of the computer that enables this Digi device to accessother
networks, such as the Internet.

Enable AutoIP address assignment: With AutoIPenabled, the Digi device will automatically
self-configure an IPaddresswhen an address is not available from other methods, for example,
when the Digi device is configured for DHCPand a DHCPserver is not currently available.
