USE OF INTERLOCK LOOPS
Functionality
The D-Series Interlock circuit is controlled by a certificated E-Stop relay
PNOZ S4 from PILZ.
By means of 1 or 2 interlock circuits safety category 2,3 or 4 can be reached.
With CAT4 a cross fault monitoring detects shorts between the interlock
loops. Light grid interlock applications are possible.
The behavior of the reset input is selectable by the control wheel. The control
wheel positions shown in the drawing on the next page shows the edge level
sensitive mode of the reset signal, active on the rising edge. If the external
wiring does not match with the wheel position, the LED for the second
interlock loop at the front panel will not work.
The D-Series controller uses E-Stop relays with monitored reset on the rising
edge. That means after closing the guard door a rising edge on the reset signal
input needs to be delivered actively.
Factory default setting is safety category 2.
