Safety Category 2
To reach the safety category 2, only one interlock circuit is used. Typically
one guard door switch contact controls the interlock circuit. The control
wheel needs to be turned to the upper left position as shown in the X29
diagram on page 2-30 (factory setting).
In this safety category, earth faults in the input circuit (interlock loop) and in
the reset circuit are detected.
Safety Category 3
In safety category 3 applications, 2 interlock circuits are used. A double
switch set connected with interlock loop 1 and 2 controls one guard door.
After opening of one interlock circuit the E-stop relay will be switched off. A
restart of the relay is only possible after opening both interlock circuits.
The control wheel needs to be turned to the upper left position as shown in
the X29 diagram on page 2-30 (factory setting). A cross fault detection is not
possible.
In this safety category, earth faults and short circuits in the input circuits
(interlock loops) and in the reset circuit are detected.
Safety Category 4
As in category 3, a double switch set placed on one guard door controls the 2
independent interlock circuits .
After opening one of the interlock circuits the E-stop relay will be switched
off. A restart of the relay is only possible after opening of both interlock
circuits.
The control wheel needs to be turned to the upper right position as shown in
the X29 diagram on page 2-30 (not factory setting, must be adjusted by
opening the controller).
In this safety category, earth faults and short circuits in the input circuit and in
the reset circuit are detected. Shorts between the input contacts are detected
as well.
