Considerations About Using Clear Config in a Stack
Whenusingtheclearconfigcommand(page3 ‐49)toclearconfigurationparametersinastack,it
isimportanttorememberthefollowing:
•UseclearconfigtoclearconfigparameterswithoutclearingstackunitIDs.Thiscommand
WILLNOTclearstackparametersortheIPaddressandavoidstheprocessof
renumbering
thestack.
•Useclearconfigallwhenitisnecessarytoclearallconfigparameters,includingstackunit
IDsandswitchpriorityvalues.ThiscommandwillnotcleartheIPaddressnorwillitremove
anappliedadvancedfeaturelicense.
•UseclearipaddresstoremovetheIPaddressofthe
stack.
•Useclearlicensetoremoveanappliedlicensefromaswitch.
Configurationparametersandstackinginformationcanalsobeclearedonthemasterunitonly
byselectingthe“restoreconfigurationtofactorydefaults”optionfromthebootmenuonswitch
startup.Thisselectionwillleavestackingprioritiesonallother
units.
Issues Related to Mixed Type Stacks
Feature Support
BecausetheSecureStackC2andC3switcheshavedifferenthardwarearchitectures,the
functionalitysupportedbythetwoswitchtypesisdifferent.Whenthetwotypesofswitchesare
mixedinastack,thefunctionalitysupportedwillbethelowestcommondenominatoroffeatures
supportedonallplatforms.Refertothefirmware

areusingaC3Kswitch,thefirmwareversionmustbe5.02.xxorhigher.)Inordertomix

higher,orversion5.02.xx
orhigherforC3Kdevices)ontheC3switch.YoucaninstalltheC2
firmwarefirst,withtheC3switchinstand‐alonemode,oryoucanaddtheC3switchtothestack
andthencopytheC2firmwaretothe C3switchusingthesetswitchcopy‐fw
command(page2‐
10).AftercopyingtheC2firmwaretotheC3switch,youmustresetthestack.
Switch Manager
ItisrecommendedthataSecureStack C3switchbemadethemanagerofamixedstack.Usetheset
switchmovemanagementcommand(page2‐11)tochangethemanagerunit.
