METHOD FOR CHECKING WEAR OF FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS
WARNING
Be sure to check the wear amount of the brake disc.
If the wear amount of the disc has exceeded the wear limit, the machine cannot stop at the specific dis-
tance due to the prolonged braking distance, and a serious personal injury or death may result.
Perform the check every 250 hours in the site where is sandy or requires braking frequently, since the pads will
wear earlier.

Insert the checking gauge (2) which is one of the accesso-
ry tools into the wear inspection hole (1) of the calipers.

Check the clearance between the stepped part of the
checking gauge (3) and the calipers (4).
When the stepped part (3) of the gauge (2) touches to the
calipers (4), it has reached the wear limit (thickness of pad
is 3 mm).
(A)
It is reaching to the wear limit.
(B)
Replace the pad since it has reached the wear limit.
Ask your Komatsu distributor for replacement of the pad (5).
The wear amount of pads on the right and left wheels are not equal. Perform the check on both sides.
Be sure to replace all of 4 pieces if one of the pads reaches the wear limit.
Wash the machine thoroughly after working in the muddy site. Mud stuck to the calipers and discs promotes the
wear of the pad if it remains untouched.
METHOD FOR CHECKING ALTERNATOR AND AIR CONDITIONER COMPRES-
SOR DRIVE BELT
WARNING
Do not open the cover while the engine is running. Stop the engine always before performing the in-
spection.
Immediately after the engine is stopped, its parts and oil are still very hot and may cause burn injury.
Wait for the temperature to go down, and then start the work.
REMARK
Since the auto-tensioner is installed, tension adjustment is not required.
