4.2 Axle Beam, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
♦ Engine and Gearbox Jack - VAS6931-
♦ Spring Compressor Kit - VAG1752-
♦ Brake Pedal Actuator - VAG1869/2- .
♦ Tensioning Strap - T10038-
Perform the Following
Removing
– Release parking brake.
Vehicles with the Highline Center Console
– Open the cover on the rear storage compartment.
– Remove the mat from the storage compartment.
– Loosen the adjusting nut -arrow- until it is possible to disen‐
gage the parking brake cable -1- from the compensator brack‐
et -2-.
Vehicles with the Basis Center Console
– Remove the mat from the rear storage compartment.
– Loosen the adjusting nut -arrow- until it is possible to disen‐
gage the parking brake cable -1- from the compensator brack‐
et -2-.
Continuation for All Vehicles
– Install the Brake Pedal Actuator - VAG1869/2- .
This Prevents the Brake Lines and the ABS Hydraulic Unit from
Running Empty.
– Loosen the wheel bolts.
– Raise the vehicle.
– Remove the wheels.
Secure Vehicle to Lifting Platform
Vehicle must be secured to lift arms of lifting platform before rear
axle is removed.
The Vehicle Could Fall Off the Hoist If It Is Not Secured.
