7.12 Replacement of Compact Flash
7.12 Replacement of Compact Flash
Location The Compact Flash card is located on the computer unit mother board as shown
below. The card is accessible without removing the computer unit cover.
Important: The compact flash card supplied by ABB is an Industrial Standard card
which includes software to enable it to work with the robot system. Cheaper
Consumer Standard cards will not work with the robot.

Removal The procedure describes how to remove the compact flash from the computer unit.
WARNING! No repair work must be performed on the robot before the safety
regulations in ’Safety on page 13 have been read and understood.
CAUTION! The unit is sensitive to ESD. Before handling the unit, please observe
the safety information in ’ESD Precautions’ on page 130.
1. Turn the electrical disconnect switch ‘off’ and lock switch in ‘off’ position.
WARNING! Make sure that the mains switch is ‘off’ and locked in ‘off’ position
before continuing. Also make sure that possible other connected systems are ‘off’.
2. Open controller front door and locate the computer unit (77/1). Locate the
compact flash card at the upper left corner of the computer unit (77/2).
