Managing ARP
The
Address Resolution Protocol
(ARP) is a TCP/IP protocol that converts IP
addresses into physical addresses. The ARP table is used to maintain a correlation
between each MAC address and its corresponding IP address. The ARP table can
be filled in statically by the user. When a static ARP entry is defined, a permanent
entry is put in the table, which the system uses to translate IP addresses to MAC
addresses.
