To further securethe Digi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily product, you can disable network
services that arenot required for the Digi device. You can disable non-secure or un-encrypted network
services such as Telnet. See Network ServicesSettings.
Auser cannot set another user'spermission level higher than their own permission level, nor can a
user raise their own permission level.
Thelist of services and the user permissions available for them vary by Digi Connect and ConnectPort
TSFamily product and the featuressupported in theproduct. There are several groups of services,
such as:

Network Configuration
n
Serial Configuration
n
System Configuration
n
User Configuration
n
Peripherals
n
Application Configuration
n
Connection Management
n
Command Line Applications
n
System Administration

Reboot/Update Firmware: Allows the user to reboot the device and update the firmware.
Choose Execute if the user should beable to perform these tasks. Otherwise, choose
None.
Thepossible selectionsfor each permissionssetting can vary, but includesthe following possibilities:

None: The user does not havepermission to execute this setting.
n
Read Self: The user can display their own settings, but not those of other users.
n
Read: Theuser can read the setting for all users, but doesnot havepermission to modify or
write the setting.
n
Read/Write Self: The user can read and write their own setting, but not those of other users.
n
Read All/Write Self: Theuser can read the setting for all usersand can modify their own
setting.
n
Read/Write: The user can read and write the setting for all users.
n
Execute: The user can execute this setting.
Add a user
Digi Connect and ConnectPort TSFamily devicesallow you to define multiple users. For those
products, the UsersConfiguration page showsthe currently defined users and allowsyou to add
users.
To add a user:
1. Select Configuration >Users.
2. Click New user.
